Guide - Application for Carta de Nacionalización

STEP 1

The application for the Carta de Nacionlización is done through the Portal at tramites.serviciomigraciones.cl

You can log in with ClaveÚnica or by creating an account on the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones website.


STEP 2

In this step, select if you are:

If you are of legal age (Over 18 years of age).

If the application is for a minor between 14 and 17 years old.

If you are a minor under 18 years of age, child of a refugee with a parent who has become a citizen.


STEP 3

Enter your personal information:

  • Date of birth.
  • Sex.
  • Country of birth (refers to the country where you were born).
  • Current nationality (refers to the nationality of your current passport).


STEP 4

You must select if you entered Chile as a minor, your marital status and then click "Siguiente".

IMPORTANT: Consider the date of entry to the country indicated in your first visa.


If you entered the country as a minor, you must enter the date of your first entry to Chile and upload the travel certificate (This document can be requested at  Policía de Investigaciones (PDI).

STEP 5

You must indicate if you have traveled to your country of origin as an adult. If the answer is "YES", you must upload the Criminal Record Certificate of your country of origin (remember that this document must be duly legalized or apostilled).

 Provide your marital status and then click on "Siguiente".


STEP 6

Select the type of Nacionalización Request you wish to make:

  • Adult with ties to a Chilean citizen, with at least 2 years of residence in Chile.
  • Adult without ties to a Chilean citizen, with at least 5 years of residence in Chile.
  • Refugee.


STEP 7

If you are of legal age without ties to a Chilean and have at least 5 years of residence in Chile, you must select this option and upload all your contact information (remember to enter an email address you use, as you will be notified via email) Then click on "Siguiente".


STEP 8

Provide the activity that will be performed in Chile:

  • Profession or trade.
  • Name of the institution (optional).
  • Attach a document that certifies the activity you will perform in Chile.
  • If you have a property in Chile, select the option that fits you best.

Then click on "Siguiente".


STEP 9

If you have a passport:

Upload the scanned image of the passport identification sheet.

Provide your passport identification number.

Select your passport issuing country and then click "Siguiente".


STEP 10

If you do not have a passport, you must upload a national identity card from your country of origin or a consular certificate certifying your identity and nationality.


STEP 11

Upload your Chilean Identity Card on both sides, legible and valid. 

Then select the reasons for which you are applying for Chilean nationality and click "Siguiente".


STEP 12

To submit the application form click on "Finalizar".


STEP 13

Once your application has been sent, you will receive a notification in your email indicating that your application for Nacionalización has been received correctly. You will also receive proof that the application has been sent. 

IMPORTANT: You will be notified by email when your application begins the analysis process.
