STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE - APPLICATION FOR RESIDENCIA DEFINITIVA

STEP 1 

Go to tramites.extranjeria.gob.cl then select "Solicitud de Residencia Definitiva".


Remember that if you do not have a ClaveÚnica you can create an account at the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones website. 


STEP 2 

If the application belongs to the applicant, select "Postulación Personal".


STEP 3

Complete the following information:

  • Chilean identity card number
  • First name
  • Paternal last name
  • Maternal last name (optional)
  • Sex
  • Date of birth
  • Country of birth
  • Current nationality (it refers to the current nationality in the applicant´s passport).

Then click on "siguiente".


STEP 4

Then fill in your contact information: 

  • Region and commune where you reside in Chile
  • Street
  • Number
  • Department (optional)
  • Cell phone number
  • Email (it must be one that you use regularly, since you will receive the information by email).

Then click on "siguiente". 


STEP 5

Enter your educational information, profession or occupation and activity to be performed in Chile. Then click on "siguiente".


STEP 6

You must select passport or national identification document of your country of origin, the granting country and attach the copy of the legible identification document. 


You must select if the Residencia Temporal corresponded as Dependent or the Permit Holder (you can check this in your estampado electrónico).


Enter the end date of your residence permit. Then click on "siguiente".


STEP 7

You must select the reason for your application (you can choose one or more options). Then click on "siguiente".


STEP 8

You must upload the following documents:

  • Criminal Record Certificate from the country of origin apostilled or duly legalized and translated, if applicable. 
  • Chilean identity card for foreigners (both sides).
  • Visa stamped on passport or residence title corresponding to the sticker on the passport, which indicates the period granted on the visa and its condition as the Permit Holder or Dependent.
  • Estampado Electrónico or Certificate of "Término de Misión" issued by MINREL.

 Then click on "siguiente". 


STEP 9 

 If you have a family tie,  you must select if it is with a Chilean citizen or with a foreigner that has Residencia Definitiva. Then click on "siguiente". 


STEP 10

In this case, we are going to certify relationship with a foreigner with Residencia Definitiva (child). 

Then click on "siguiente".


STEP 11

You must upload the birth certificate corresponding to the family tie. Then select it.


Remember: The certificate must be apostilled or duly legalized by the Chilean Consulate in the country of origin and by the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Chile. 


STEP 12

Enter the personal information of the declared relationship/family tie:

  • First names
  • Paternal last name
  • Maternal last name (optional)
  • Sex
  • Country of birth
  • Date of birth
  • Type of identification document 
  • Identification document number 
  • Country issuing the document

Then click "siguiente". 


STEP 13

You must select how you will demonstrate your income.

Then you must click "siguiente". 


STEP 14 

You will find a group of categories. If you do not belong to any group, select "ninguno".

Then click on "siguiente". 


STEP 15

This step is only for those persons who, while having an application in process, have received a notification to rectify (subsanar). 


STEP 16

You can add your dependents in the same application. Otherwise, select "No, no deseo agregar" and then click on "siguiente".


STEP 17 

This is the last step. You must click on "finalizar". 


STEP 18

You will receive an email notification that your documentation has been successfully received and the "proof that the application for Residencia Definitiva  has been submitted".
