Requirements for Family Reunification
If you are related to a Chilean citizen or a family member with a Residencia Definitiva permit, you must meet the following requirements to apply for this Residencia Temporal permit.
The ties/relationships are the following: |
- Spouse or other analogous figure that, in accordance with the applicable law, has effects equivalent to marriage
- Father or mother
- Child under 18 years of age
- Child with disability
- Single child under 24 years of age who is currently studying
- Minor under your personal care or guardianship

SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICANTS RELATED TO PERMANENT RESIDENTS
MOTHER-FATHER OF THE RESIDENT
| - Passport or Copy of Identification Document (both sides)
- Criminal Record Certificate from your country of origin
- Birth Certificate of the Permanent Resident indicating that the applicant is the father or mother. It must be apostilled in the country of origin or duly legalized

CHILD UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE
| - Passport or Identification document
- Birth Certificate of the applicant
- Care Certificate issued by the parent (Affidavit of Expenses)

CHILD BETWEEN 18 AND 24 YEARS OLD STUDYING | - Passport or Identification document
- Criminal Record Certificate
- Applicant's Birth Certificate
- Certificate of Enrollment or Regular Student issued by a Chilean educational institution, recognized by the State

CHILD WITH DISABILITY | - Passport or Identification document
- Criminal Record Certificate (+18)
- Birth Certificate of the Applicant
- Certificate issued by the competent institution stating the disability situation.

MINOR UNDER THE CARE OF THE APPLICANT | - Passport or Identification document

- Certificate in which it contemplates the Guardianship or Custody in favor of the Holder of Residencia Definitiva

CIVIL UNION OF THE RESIDENT

- Birth Certificate of the Chilean citizen issued by the Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación
- Certificate that confirms the relationship

The passport must be valid for at least one year from the date of the application (those made outside of the country). |
Documents issued in any language other than Spanish and English must be translated and legalized by the respective Consulate.

Documents issued outside national territory must be apostilled or duly legalized by the Chilean Consulate of the applicant's country of origin and by the Chilean Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores. |
Those issued by public institutions and organizations must be presented within 60 days from the date of issue, unless the document is valid for a period different from the one mentioned above. Documents issued by private companies must be submitted within 30 days from the date of issue. |
When requesting an extension of your current residence permit, be sure to maintain the tie/relationship and be able to prove that you count with the financial means. |
