Authorization to work with Permanencia Transitoria |
| Description | Foreigners with a Permanencia Transitoria permit may not engage in remunerated activities. However, those who need to perform specific and sporadic activities, as well as those who as a result of these activities receive compensation or economic benefits in Chile or abroad, may request an authorization to perform such work to the Servicio Nacional de Migraciones. |
| Who is it addressed to? | To any foreigner who meets the requirements and enters the country with a Permanencia Transitoria permit. If the application is submitted by a guardian, third party or representative, the applicant must attach the power of attorney as stated in Article N° 22 of Law 19.880. |
| What do I need to apply? | -A valid passport/ Identification card -An original, legible and valid Tarjeta de Permiso Transitorio or valid Tarjeta Única Migratoria (TUM). -Notarized Chilean company letter or contract signed by both parties. This document must be legalized with the authorized company where the foreigner will engage in remunerated activities. It must specify duties, place and specific dates in which the applicant's tasks will be performed. It must include this clause: “La obligación de prestar servicios emanada del presente contrato, sólo podrá cumplirse una vez que el trabajador haya obtenido la autorización especial para realizar actividades remuneradas en Chile”. |
| How much is it? | It equals to 150% of a Visa Sujeta Contrato according to the applicant's nationality. The authorization may be issued free of charge, as stated in Article 51 of Law N° 21.325. |
| How long is it for? | As stated in the current employment contract. |
| How and where do I apply? | The procedure can be completed at tramites.serviciomigraciones.cl by login into your account. Then you must select "Autorización de Trabajo con Permanencia Transitoria" and upload the requested documentation. |
